Uvala 各嗽la - 覚lta (43ー 24'N; 16ー 12'E)

Uvala 各嗽la is a bay on the south-western tip of the island of 覚lta. It is not a large bay, but can hold a large number of yachts when used properly (as we have seen for ourselves in 2007). Because of its shape (it curves a bit like lightning) it offers good protection against all winds. Only SW winds can cause some swell in this bay.

It is advised not to navigate this side of 覚lta during the night. There is a number of small islands, and also a large number of rocks just above or just under the waterline around this corner of the island.

(c) HHI. Not to be used for navigation.

On the northern shore, you will find local moorings used by inhabitants of Maslinica. Yachts can moor on the southern shore, three-point mooring is best. Your anchor should be close to the northern shore, your stern-lines to the southern shore. Deeper inside the bay the options for mooring ashore (rocks and trees) are limited. The bay is quite narrow, I would not enter it with a ship larger than 45 feet.

Because this bay is well situated for a First stopover after leaving Split, or a last stopover before returning to Split, it can be rather busy. Especially for the nights Thursday to Friday and Saturday to Sunday.

There is one restaurant in this bay, which we did not test yet.
