Skrivena Luka (42° 44'N; 016° 53'E)

Skrivena Luka means ‘hidden harbour’. Long ago, it was a favorite hide-out for pirates, being chased by the Venetians. The entrance to this bay is almost invisible from the sea. It is a large bay on the southern side of the island of Lastovo. It offers the best possible protection of all anchorages on the island. You will not get any swell, but a southwestern or northerly wind can blow with force across the hills. Skrivena Luka is a popular anchorage.

The entrance of the bay can be found behind the peninsula Rt Struga, marked by a lighthouse. The entrance channel is narrow but has a minimum depth of 6 meters. The center of the bay has a depth of

10 – 15 meters, large parts of the bay have a depth of 5 – 10 meters. The northern section of the bay is rather shallow, depths between 2 – 5 meters.

There are a number of holiday homes around the bay. Along the western shores you find a restaurant, which has its own moorings. Skrivena Luka is part of the  'Natural Park Lastovo'. To anchor in this bay you have to pay the entrance fee for the parc. In 2009 this was 20 kuna per person, collected during the evening by parc rangers.

Most pilot guides say that Skrivena Luka is a fine anchorage with good holding. On first sight, the bottom consists of sand and mud. However, take care. The northern section of the bay has a rocky bottom with a thin layer of sand and mud. Your anchor will not dig in here. The central and southern section of the bay do have a proper layer of sand and mud, which will hold your anchor well.
