Stari Grad - Hvar (43° 11'N; 16° 35'E)

Stari Grad is the oldest known settlement on the island of Hvar. Although it does not have the charm and chicque of Hvar-town, it still draws a lot of tourist. It is also a regular stopover for yachts, even though it is a bit off-route: you have to pass through the whole of Starogradski Zaljev to get to the town of Stari Grad.

The bay is well-protected against every wind but west. Scirocco can cause a sudden strong rise in the waterlevel. Stari Grad is the ‘end of a dead-end street’ and the water has nowhere to go but up. If you see a sudden rise of the water level: get out of there as quick as you can!

On the southern shore you can moor stern to the quay. You will find water and electricity there. Near the northern shore you will find a line of red mooring buoys that you can pick up.

Stari Grad has all facilities that can be expected from a small town, including a direct ferry service to Split.
